Well, despite some snippy comments in this here sorry excuse for a web journal, we went off to see League of Extraordinary Gentlemen on Tuesday, and thought it was pretty good. The main problem I think was one of pacing, with some dialogue and many of the large scale effects falling flat because they seemed to be just inserted clumsily amidst it all. But it did look nice (especially London and the Nautilus) and, most importantly, we liked the characters. Quartermain and Sawyer were well-matched together, as were Mina Harker and Dorian Grey. Nemo and the Invisible Guy definitely had their moments (not so sure about Jekyll, though Hyde seemed pretty much straight out of the comic, for better or worse). While I don't think Mina joined the ranks of the classic cinematic undead, I did like their take on vampirism (and, as I'm sure anyone reading this journal will know, Dracula had no problem with daylight). So worth a look.
